Maria Mateo, a second-generation coffee farmer in a Popti Mayan community, inherited her coffee farm 15 years ago. She emphasizes environmental care and coffee quality control as keys to her success. Maria has honed her skills through training with the El Sendero cooperative, which offers support and information to coffee producers in Concepcion Huista. El Sendero, established in 2016, has 196 members, with 62 women and 134 men. The cooperative prioritizes gender equality and provides special support to young coffee producers in the region.
