The Gicheori washing station is located on the slopes of Mt. Kenya in the altitude of 1550 meters. The mountain’s slopes provide an ideal base for growing coffee as the soil is volcanic and rich with minerals.
The washing station receives aid from an association, whose aim is to develop the farmers’ and coffee buyers’ relationship and keep it as transparent as possible.

The association also aims to improve the quality and the wages of the farmers. The region’s 1800 small farmers deliver their coffee to the Gicheori washing station, whence the green beans continue their journey to roasteries.
