In 2004, the Saldanha family acquired the Fazenda California farm, located in the city of Jacarezinho. Luiz and his wife, Flavia began developing the farm with a vision to produce exceptional coffees that would allow people to experience Brazilian coffee with a new perspective. They found their surrounding microclimate to offer a very unique platform to cultivate coffee. The farm is located on the tropic of Capricorn, world’s southern borderline for specialty coffee production. Colder temperatures, volcanic soil and four well defined seasons with good distribution of rainfall enable them to produce truly exceptional Brazilian coffee. Through passion and hard work Luiz and Flavia have raised Fazenda California to produce Brazil’s best coffee, that has already won multiple prices including the highly valued Cup Of Excellence. We roasted this to work especially well as a dark filter coffee. We find a delicious chocolate flavour with notes of sweet caramel and almonds in this coffee. Enjoy!
