The owner of the Shakisso estate, Haile Gebre, was evicted from his home estate along with his family when he was 10-yearsold. At the time, the leader of the area wanted the region to start mass producing coffee. It took several decades for Haile’s worst enemy, coffee, to become his dearest friend.

Nowadays Haile Gebre is known as the godfather of the Guji region who has helped the coffee of the area gain recognition as one of the world’s best when it comes to quality. It was an honor to drink a few beers with the godfather himself a few years ago on his patio!
