Founded in 2013, the Asociación de Productores y Exportadores de Café Rodriguez de Mendoza (APOROEXPORT) is a cooperative of 356 smallholders who grow their coffee in the eastern Andean Amazon region of Peru, near the village of Rodriguez de Mendoza. The size of the cooperative farmers’ farms varies between 2 and 10 ha. The aim of the cooperative is to improve the living conditions of its members and the community, and part of the proceeds from the coffee are used to develop infrastructure in the area. The farmers believe that respect for nature leads to better yields and quality. The cooperative’s coffees are certified organic.
