The history of Fazenda Cruzeiro dates back to 1923, when Avelino Ferreira de Aguiar and Maria Julia de Paiva Aguiar married. Both came from traditional families in the municipality of Santo Antônio do Amparo. After a fire destroyed the old house inherited from Avelino’s parents, the couple decided to settle in the neighbouring area and founded Fazenda Cruzeiro. A new house was built, this time designed in neoclassical style by Avelino’s cousin, who was an architect. This house still stands majestically on the farm. Fazenda Cruzeiro was bought in 2009 by Cláudio Ottoni, a fifth generation coffee producer.
