Main Lane Coffee Roasters
Roaster: Sebastian von Spalding
El Izotal farm benefits from a unique microclimate and environment in the Alotepec-Metapán mountain range, which is one of the most renowned coffee-growing regions in El Salvador. The farm is located at high elevations at 1700 metres above sea level. This altitude is ideal for producing high-quality Arabica coffee beans, as the cooler temperatures slow down the maturation process, allowing the coffee cherries to develop more complex flavours. Alfonso Pineda’s journey as a coffee farmer is deeply rooted in his family’s history and the rich cultural traditions of El Salvador. Born and raised on stories from his mother, Valeria Solis, Alfonso was inspired by the legacy of his grandfather, Juan Solis, who owned a flourishing Arabica coffee plantation. The memories of family members and neighbours coming together to harvest coffee and share meals left a lasting impression on young Alfonso. He dreamed of one day carrying on this tradition, not just as a livelihood, but as a means to unite his community.
