Mustefa Abakeno, a dedicated smallholder farmer in the Jimma region of Western Ethiopia, manages an extensive 18-hectare farm located over 2,000 meters above sea level. His farm showcases Ethiopia’s rich coffee heritage, cultivating a diverse selection of local coffee varieties. Mustefa skillfully combines tradition and innovation in his methods, producing exceptional coffee beans.
Mustefa’s commitment to excellence extends to infrastructure development. In addition to his own farm, he has acquired four nearby farms (Echamo, Jarso, Badeyi, and Saadi), established his own processing station, and built a modern warehouse for green coffee in Agaro. These facilities serve as key collection points where coffee cherries are carefully selected and purchased from neighboring farmers. The coffees sourced from these locations are then transported to two main processing stations, Beshasha and Kabira, where Mustefa consistently applies precise standards and coffee processing expertise. These investments highlight his dedication to advancing practices and meeting the highest standards.
This expansion has strengthened Mustefa’s ability to source exceptional coffees while also enhancing his role as a catalyst for community development in coffee-growing areas. Through these initiatives, Mustefa promotes the economic well-being of local farmers and contributes to preserving Ethiopia’s esteemed coffee heritage.
