Dukundekawa (also Dukunde Kawa) cooperative started working in 2000. It is a part of Dr. Tim Schilling’s heritage from the project USAID SPREAD. The project was funded by the US government and the A&M university of Texas, where Dr. Schilling studied international agriculture. The whole project is one of the main reasons that the Rwandan specialty coffee production quickly developed to its present state.
Dukundekawa Cooperative has currently about 2000 members and four washing stations the biggest of which is the Musasa station. Their coffees have often fared well in the Rwandan Cup of Excellence competition.
Musasa Dukundewaka opens up in the Mokkamestarit roastery’s splendid roast as a magnificent espresso that is characterised by a grapefruitlike acidity and a velvety feel.
