This coffee is sourced through the Norwegian Nordic Approach that is best know as the supplier of the highest quality and most ethical coffees. Nordic Approach supports the farmers not only by teaching them new farming methods to produce the highest quality and maximum yields, but also supports them financially all over the world.
In the Tolima province in Colombia, Nordic Approach is a partner in a program called “Programa de Finca”, which aims to encourage the farmers to produce exceptionally high quality coffees. The yields of any one farmer are relatively small with a variation between 300 to 3000 kg while the average is about 700 kg.
The local program is directed by a co-operative partner, Cafisur. Their laboratory, talented coffee tasters and precise quality control ensure the perfect traceability all the way to the farm. Cafisur pre-selects the best coffee crops that are then tasted by the professionals of Nordic Approach. After a careful cupping process it is decided, which of the smaller crops are so exceptionally good that they should be sold as smaller batches and which crops are better to blend with medium sized batches.
Nordic Approach pays the more for the coffee, the better the score the coffee gets. This quality premium is paid directly to the farmer in full.
